Privacy Policy (a.k.a. Who's Watching You Dodge Dish Duty)
Last updated: July 31, 2026.
The short version
We collect the bare minimum required to run a chore app: your name, email, and a running tally of what you were supposed to do and didn't. We don't sell your data. We don't show it to other families. The only person who can see across every family is the superadmin, and that's for stopping abuse and fixing bugs — not because we're dying to know whether your household is beating ours at chore compliance. (We're not, statistically. But we don't check.)
1. What we collect
- Your name and email, because apparently that's still how accounts work in the current year
- Your family's chores, assignments, trades, coverage requests, and yes, your completion history — the receipts, if you will
- A push notification address for your device, only if you opt in — otherwise how would we remind you that you're behind?
That's the whole list. We are not selling this to advertisers, building a shadow profile of your chore-avoidance patterns, or remotely interested in your location, your other apps, or your search history. We have enough on our plate.
2. Why we collect it
Purely so the app functions — knowing who you are, which household you're in, and what you were supposed to be doing. There is no secondary business model here involving your data. This is a chore app, not a hedge fund.
3. Who can see what
Your family's business stays in your family — nobody in another household can see your chores, your names, or your personal shame spiral over the recycling. The superadmin can see across every family when it's genuinely needed for support or to act on an abuse report — same reason a landlord keeps a master key, not because they want to snoop, but because someone occasionally sets off a small fire.
4. Who else touches your data
We didn't build our own database, hosting, or email system from scratch, because we are not insane. Here's who helps:
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles sign-in
- Vercel — hosts the app itself
- Resend — sends invite and notification emails
- Your browser's own Web Push service — delivers reminders, if you've turned them on
None of them get to use your data for their own purposes. They just help us store it and deliver it, like a very boring relay race.
5. How long we keep it, and how to make us stop
We keep your data as long as your account exists, because auto-deleting it the moment you're mildly annoyed at your family seemed like a bad system design. Want it gone for real? Send us a report and we'll handle it like actual humans, because we are (allegedly) actual humans.
6. Kids' privacy
Chore Draft is built for households, which usually means kids have accounts too — that's the entire premise. Kids join a family through an invite sent by a parent or guardian who already has an account; there's no self-serve signup for minors out in the wild. If you're a parent inviting a child, you're the one who sent the invite, so we're going to go ahead and assume you're okay with it.
7. Cookies & sessions
One boring session cookie to keep you signed in. No ad trackers, no fingerprinting, no creepy pixel following your every scroll. The only thing under surveillance here is whether the trash actually went out.
8. Changes to this policy
If this changes, we'll update the date at the top and try to keep the joke density roughly the same.
